The Amigos Canarios de la Ópera has programmed La fille du Régiment for this April 20th, 22nd and 24th. This comic opera in two acts was composed by Gaetano Donizetti to a French libretto written by Jean François Bayard and J. H. Vernoy de Saint-Georges, based on a work by Gollmick. Alfonso Romero Mora will be in charge of stage direction while music will be in the hands of Miquel Ortega, who will conduct the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria and the Coro de la Ópera de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Alfonso Romero Mora has recently directed L’elisir d’amore at the Staatstheater Braunschweig, Andrea Chenier at the Festival de Peralada, La Bohème with the Danish National Opera, Otello at the Teatro Pérez Galdós in Las Palmas and at the Teatro Principal in Palma de Mallorca, Faust in another visit to the Teatro Peréz Galdós, Eugene Onegin in Oporto and also at the Teatro Principal of Palma de Mallorca and Carmen and Luisa Fernanda in Nordhausen, Germany, Don Pasquale in AGAO-Auditorio Baluarte, Otello at the Teatro Villamarta de Jerez, La Voix Humaine/Le Portrait de Manon and Andrea Chenier at the Ópera de las Palmas, and Le nozze di Figaro at the Theater Koblenz. In addition, he will soon direct Andrea Chénier at ABAO-Bilbao.
