Andreas Spering will conduct the Real Filharmonía de Galicia

2013-06-03

On June 20th, Andreas Spering will conduct the Real Filharmonía de Galicia orchestra in a concert within the framework of the Festival Mozart 2013. The program, which will be entirely dedicated to Mozart, will include a selection of extracts from “Idomeneo, Re di Creta”, featuring soprano Nuria Rial, as well as “Symphony No. 39 in E-flat major, KV 543”. Previous to that, on June 7th, 9th, and 14th, Spering will conduct Händel’s “Almira, Queen of Castile”, in one co-production by Händel Festival and Halle’s Opernhaus. This is the first opera written by the composer and is seldom performed. The show has stage direction by Axel Köhler, and Spering, a renowned expert in baroque music, and especially in Händel, will be conducting an outstanding cast and the Händel Festival Orchestra Halle, created in 1993 specifically to accompany Händel’s operas using period instruments. This Händel Festival takes place in Halle, where the composer was born, since 1922.
