Baritone Damián del Castillo to sing Marcelino of María del Pilar at the Teatro de la Zarzuela

On November 30th and December 2nd the Teatro de la Zarzuela of Madrid will give concert performances of María del Pilar, by Gerónimo Giménez. The concerts are dedicated to the memory of Jesús López Cobos.

The Jaen-born baritone Damián del Castillo will give life to Marcelino. He will be accompanied on stage by Carmen Solís (María del Pilar), Iwona Sobotka (Esperanza), Marina Rodríguez-Cusí (Señá Nieves), Andeka Gorrotxategi (Rafael), and others. The actor Mario Gas also takes part, as the narrator. Maestro Óliver Díaz will be in charge of musical direction, leading the Zarzuela's principal orchestra and chorus.

We will soon see Damián del Castillo in Madama Butterfly at the Gran Teatro del Liceu of Barcelona and also in Il Finto Sordo at the Fundación Juan March.
