The premiere in modern times of the opera “Cristóbal Colón”, by Ramon Carnicer, has been described as an outstanding event. The opera has two acts, and the libretto was written by Felice Romani. On June 28th, Seville’s Teatro de la Maestranza will house the work as a concert featuring a brilliant cast. Soloist singers will include baritones César San Martín and Damián del Castillo. The music score requires great vocal and instrumental virtuosity within the bel canto style. Santiago Serrate will be conducting the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla and the Coro de la A. A. del Teatro de la Maestranza.
