Essen's Aalto-Musiktheater stages Le Prophète, with Marianne Cornetti as Fidès

Le Prophète, an opera in five acts with music by Giacomo Meyerbeer and French libretto by Eugène Scribe and Émile Deschamps, will be on the stage of the Aalto-Musiktheater of Essen from April 9th to May 14th. The American mezzo Marianne Cornetti will give life to Fidès, Jean's mother. Accompanying Cornetti will be John Osborn (Jean de Leyde), Lynette Tapia (Berthe), Albercht Kludszuweit (Jonas), Pierre Doyen (Mathisen), among others. The musical direction of this production is in the hands of Giuliano Carella and stage direction will be by Vincent Boussard.
Marianne Cornetti's recent performances and upcoming engagements include Verdi's Requiem at the Teatro Filarmónica of Oviedo, Il Trovatore at the National Center for the Performing Arts of Beijing and at the Palacio de la Ópera de Coruña, Lohengrin at the Theatro Municipal de São Paulo, Rusalka at Opera Minnesota, Don Carlo at the Teatro Regio di Parma, Falstaff in Coruña, Hansel und Gretel in Kansas City, Adriana Lecouvreur at the Teatro di San Carlo of Naples, and Il Trovatore at the Teatro di San Carlo of Naples and also at the Liceu of Barcelona.
