Gregory Kunde debuts as Calaf in Turandot, under the musical direction of Zubin Mehta

Following the American tenor's great success at London's ROH as Otello, Gregory Kunde will now debut in the role of Calaf in Turandot, Puccini's last opera, with libretto by Giuseppe Adami and Renato Simoni. It will be on July 20th, under the baton of Maestro Zubin Mehta, who will be leading the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Gary Bertini Israeli Choir and the Prague Philharmonic Choir. Turandot, performed in concert version form, will be on the stage of the Charles Bronfman Auditorium of Tel Aviv through July 28th. Singing alongside Gregory Kunde will be an outstanding cast headed by Anna Pirozi and Elena Pankratova, alternating in the role of Turandot, and also featuring Chen Reiss as Liú, Guy Mannheim as Altoum, Liang Li as Timur and Germán Olvera as Ping.

Gregory Kunde's recent performances include two operas in the 2016/2017 season of the Teatro Real of Madrid, first Otello and then Norma, as well as concerts featuring Verdi arias at the Auditorio Baluarte of Pamplona, the Liceu of Barcelona and Opera Naples, Florida, Samson et Dalila at the Teatro Regio di Torino, Il Trovatore and Otello at the Royal Opera House of London, I Vespri Siciliani at the Palau de les Arts of Valencia, and Manon Lescaut at the Teatro Regio di Torino and also at the Grand Théâtre de Genève.
The singer's future engagements include a recital at the Peralada Festival, Aida in Muscat and at Madrid's Teatro Real, Norma at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie and ABAO-Bilbao, Le prophète at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Poliuto at the Liceu of Barcelona, a concert in honour of Alberto Zedda at the Opera Vlaanderen, Peter Grimes at Valencia's Palau de les Arts, La forza del destino at the Semperoper Dresden and Manon Lescaut, again at the Liceu.
