Gregory Kunde returns to the Royal Opera House of London in the title role of Otello

Kunde returns to London's Royal Opera House to sing the main role of Otello, Verdi's well-known adaptation of one of Shakespeare's most famous tragedies. This Otello, with stage direction by Keith Warner, will be conducted by Antonio Pappano. It will be on stage from December 9th through 22nd, following its very successful tour of Japan last September. On stage with the American tenor will be Ermonela Jaho as Desdemona, Carlos Álvarez as Iago and Freddie De Tommaso as Cassio, among others.

Gregory Kunde has recently performed in Manon Lescaut at the Dallas Opera, in an Opera di Roma production that toured Japan, in a concert of Verdi and Rossini works held at the Parisian Théâtre des Champs-Elysées with soprano María José Siri, in Turandot and Aida at the Arena di Verona Opera Festival, in a concert with Elina Garanca and Anna Pirozzi at the Alpenklassik Festival, as musical director of Il Barbiere di Siviglia at La Fenice in Venice, in Turandot at the Teatro Real of Madrid, at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna and at the Liceu of Barcelona, in Andrea Chénier and Aida at the Wiener Staatsoper and in Otello at the Teatro Baluarte of Pamplona, the Opéra National de Paris, the Opéra de Monte-Carlo and on tour in Japan with de ROH. He has also sung Das Lied von der Erde at the Palau de la Música of Valencia, Samson et Dalila at the Metropolitan Opera of New York and the Teatro de la Maestranza of Seville, and Verdi’s Requiem with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Zubin Mehta.

Some of his upcoming engagements include Turandot at the Teatro dell’Opere di Roma and Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova, Don Carlo at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie, Le prophète at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Luisa Miller at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Fidelio (concert version) at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Il trovatore at the Wiener Staatsoper, Das Lied von der Erde at the Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova and Otello at the Bayersche Staatsoper of Munich.
