Gregory Kunde sings Aida in Moscow under the baton of Maestro Zubin Mehta

Tomorrow, March 30th, the American tenor Gregory Kunde will be singing Aida in Moscow, under the direction of Maestro Zubin Mehta, who will be conducting the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Orchestra and its chorus to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the birth of the soprano Galina Vishnevskaya.  Aida, an opera in four acts with music by Giuseppe Verdi and Italian libretto by Antonio Ghislanzoni, will be performed in concert version. The Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Orchestra was founded in 1928 and since the very beginning it has performed in the concerts and operas of the Teatro Comunale di Firenze. Maestro Zubin Mehta is currently its resident conductor.

Gregory Kunde participates in this event as Radamés, a role he performed last August in the Arena di Verona. Other recent performances by Kunde include Rossini’s Otello at La Scala in Milan, Norma at the Liceu, La Fenice and the Munich Opera, Il Trovatore also at La Fenice, Roberto Devereux at Madrid’s Teatro Real and in Bilbao, Verdi’s Otello at the Teatro de la Maestranza of Seville, Samson et Dalila at Les Arts de Valencia, Rossini’s Otello at the Liceu, and Manon Lescaut in ABAO-Bilbao.

The singer’s upcoming engagements include Verdi’s Requiem (ABAO-Bilbao), Idomeneo (Les Arts de Valencia), Otello (May Festival-Cincinnati) with James Conlon, Il Trovatore (Royal Opera House) with Maestro Noseda, Otello and Norma (Teatro Real de Madrid) and also a concert performance at the Gran Teatre del Liceu of Barcelona.
