The June 2nd performance is part of the prestigious music festival “Stars of the White Nights” which will be taking place from May 26th to July 24th in the Russian city. Present at this year's festival will be figures of the stature of Plácido Domingo, Anna Netrebko, Olga Peretyatko and Cecilia Bartoli.
Samson et Dalila, an opera in three acts with music by Camille Saint-Saëns and libretto by Ferdinand Lemaire, will be conducted by Maestro Valery Gergiev. Among Gregory Kunde's upcoming engagements are Il Trovatore at London's Royal Opera House and Das Lied von der Erde, by Mahler, which is part of this year's BBC Proms. He will also be opening the coming season at Madrid's Teatro Real, heading the cast of Otello and performing shortly thereafter in Bellini’s Norma. After that he will return to the Royal Opera House to sing Il Trovatore and Verdi's Otello and also to ABAO, Bilbao, to sing the leading role in Andrea Chénier. In addition, he will be performing on two occasions during the upcoming season at the Teatro Regio of Turin, in Samson et Dalila and Manon Lescaut.
