Manuel Coves conducts a programme honouring Antonio Ruiz Soler, with the National Ballet of Spain, at the Teatro de la Zarzuela

From June 18th to July 3rd, at the Teatro de la Zarzuela of Madrid, Maestro Coves will conduct a programme in honour of Antonio Ruiz Soler, commemorating the 20th anniversary of his death. This tribute has been designed by Antonio Najarro for the National Ballet of Spain. With a selection of several of the most brilliant creations of "Antonio el Bailarín" - Eritaña, Zapateando de Sarasate, Taranto (La Taberna del Toro), Fantasía Galaica and El Sombrero de Tres Picos – the National Ballet of Spain "will transmit in this tribute all the greatness of the Spanish dance repertoire”, in the words of Antonio Najarro.
Among the most recent performances of the Jaén-born conductor, especially worth highlighting are Don Carlo, with the stage direction of Albert Boadella and El Amor Brujo: el fuego y la palabra, with the stage direction of La Fura dels Baus, both at Los Teatros del Canal.
Last May 28th and 29th and also on June 3rd, 4th and 5th, Manuel Coves conducted Don Quijote, a ballet of the Nacional Dance Company, in San Cugat del Vallés and in Bilbao, at the Teatro Arriaga, respectively. He will conduct the ballet again in November at the Teatro Carlo Felice of Genoa and in December at the Teatro de la Zarzuela of Madrid.
