Marianne Cornetti sings Azucena in Il Trovatore at the Gran Teatre del Liceu

Il Trovatore, an opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi with text by Salvodore Cammarano and Emanuele Bardore, will be performed at Barcelona's Liceu from July 17th to 29th. Marianne Cornetti is to sing the role of Azucena in this co-production with the Ópera de Oviedo, in which the cast will be accompanied by the Orquesta Sinfónica y Coro del Gran Teatre del Liceu, under the musical direction of Daniele Callegari. Stage direction is in the hands of Joan Anton Rechi. The North American mezzo will share the stage with Artur Rucinski (Count di Luna), Kristin Lewis (Leonora) and Marco Berti (Manrico), among others.
Soon thereafter, on August 8th and 13th at the Arena di Verona,  Marianne Cornetti will sing the role of Amneris in Aida, a Verdi opera with libretto by Antonio Ghislanzoni. Taking part in this production are the Orchestra, Coro, Corpo di Ballo e Tecnici dell'Arena di Verona, under the musical direction of Maestro Andrea Battistoni. Stage direction is by Gianfranco de Bosio.
