Madrid’s Teatro de La Zarzuela presents a new production of Ricardo de la Vega’s one-act zarzuela “La Verbena de la Paloma”, with music by Maestro Tomás Bretón. Baritone Damián del Castillo plays the role of Julián and soprano María Rodríguez plays Señá Rita. The new production will be directed by José Carlos Plaza. The resident orchestra of the Teatro de la Zarzuela – la Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid – and the Coro del Teatro de la Zarzuela will be conducted by Maestro Cristóbal Soler. The program also includes "Los Amores" de la Inés, a one-act zarzuela with music by Manuel de Falla, which will be the first performance of the opera since its premiere in 1902. A rare double program featuring a practically unknown piece paired with what might be the most renowned opera of this genre. 17performances, from October 19th to November 10th.
