Pesaro’s Rossini Opera Festival presents “Armida,” featuring Soprano Carmen Romeu

The opera “Armida,” featuring Soprano Carmen Romeu in the leading role, will be performed for the inauguration of the 35th Edition of Pesaro’s Rossini Opera Festival. A new major production has been developed for the occasion, stage directed by the prestigious Luca Ronconi. Carmen Romeu returns to the Rossini Festival after her success as the lead role in “La Donna del Lago” at last year’s festival.
The premiere will take place on August 10th at the Adriatic Arena, where four performances of the new production will be held.The Orchestra and Coro del Teatro Comunale di Bologna will be conducted by Maestro Carlo Rizzi. On August 17th, still within the Festival framework, Carmen Romeu will sing in a concert entitled “Duetti Amorosi”, with Orchestra Sinfónica G. Rossini at Teatro Rossini. She also recently performed Rossini’s “Otello” (Desdemona), along with Gregory Kunde and Maestro Alberto Zedda, to high acclaim Carmen Romeu’s upcoming shows in Spain include “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” (Rosina) at Oviedo’s Teatro Campoamor, “Die Zauberflote” (Pamina) at La Coruña’s Palacio de la Ópera, and Luigi Boccherini’s “La Clementina” at Madrid’s Teatro de la Zarzuela.
