Seville’s Teatro de la Maestranza presents Il Barbiere di Siviglia, with Dmitry Ulyanov in the role of Basilio

The Russian bass Dmitry Ulyanov will be interpreting Basilio in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, which will be returning to the Teatro de la Maestranza from February 8th to February 16th. Rossini based this two-act opera buffa, with libretto by Cesare Sterbini, on the comic play of the same name by Beaumarchais.
The musical direction of the production is in the hands of Maestro Giuseppe Finzi, who will be conducting the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla and the Coro de la Asociación de Amigos del Teatro de la Maestranza. Stage direction is by José Luis Castro and the sets are by the painters Carmen Laffón and Juan Suárez.
In this production Dmitry Ulyanov will be sharing the stage with Michele Angelini (Count Almaviva), Elliot Madore (Figaro), Marina Comparato (Rosina) and Renato Girolami (Doctor Bartolo).
