Starting on May 6th the Teatro de la Zarzuela of Madrid will be staging the double bill programme Enseñanza libre/La Gatita blanca. The first piece is by the composer Gerónimo Giménez, with libretto by Guillermo Perrín and Miguel de Palacios. This production is a version developed by Enrique Viana, the stage director. Enrique Viana has also adapted the second work, La Gatita Blanca, by Gerónimo Giménez and Amadeo Vives, with libretto by José Jackson Veyán and Jacinto Capella. The Jaén-born conductor Manuel Coves will be holding the baton in this new production by the Teatro de la Zarzuela. Performances will continue through May 28th.
Manuel Coves' recent engagements include Metrópolis in the Auditorio de Galicia with the Real Filharmonía, a concert at the Gran Teatre del Liceu with Gregory Kunde and Juan Jesús Rodríguez and also La Malquerida at Los Teatros del Canal. Among his upcoming engagements we would highlight Romeo and Juliet with the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève, to be performed at the Gran Teatre del Liceu.
