Vasily Petrenko conducts Boris Godunov at the Bayerische Staatsoper of Munich

Vasily Petrenko will be the musical director of Boris Godunov, an opera in four acts and a prologue with music and Russian libretto by Mussorgsky, which will be staged by Munich’s Bayerische Staatsoper from April 23rd to 29th. Maestro Petrenko will be leading the Bayerisches Staatsorchester, Chor, Extrachor and Kinderchor of the Bayerische Staatsoper along with a distinguished cast of singers such as Alexander Tsymbalyuk (Boris Godunov), Rachael Wilson (Fjodor) and Eri Nakamura (Xenia). This production of Boris Godunov is by the Spanish theatre director Calixto Bieito.
Also, in the near future, April 28th and 30th, Vasily Petrenko will be visiting Spain to conduct the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León at the Auditorio de Valladolid. The programme includes Piano Concerto No. 1 for Piano in F sharp, op. 1 by Sergei Rachmaninoff, with the soloist Valentina Lisitsa, and Symphony No. 8 in C minor, op. 65 by Dmitri Shostakovich.
