Wojtek Gierlach sings in the Guillaume Tell staged by Warsaw's Teatr Wielki

The Teatr Wielki of Warsaw will be staging Guillaume Tell on February 19th, 22nd and 25th. The libretto of this opera, the last to be composed by Rossini, is by Étienne de Jouy and Hippolyte Bis and is based on the drama Wilhelm Tell by Friedrich Schiller. The bass Wojtek Gierlach sings the role of Gessler in this co-production by the Welsh National Opera of Cardiff, the Houston Grand Opera and the Grand Théâtre de Genève. Other members of the cast include the Polish singer Davide Damiani (Guillaume Tell), Yosep Kang (Arnold), Gary Jankowski (Melcthal), Adam Palka (Walter Furst) and Nadine Koutcher (Mathilde). Leading the Teatr Wielki chorus and the orchestra will be Maestro Andriy Yurkevych. Stage direction is by the British director David Pountney.
