Karina Demurova

Born in Moscow in 1991, Karina Demurova (mezzo) graduated from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory as the Best Student of the year in 2017. In these years she performed Olga (Eugenie Onegin), Lyubasha (The Tsar’s bride), Flora Bervoix (La Traviata) in the Grand Hall of Moscow Conservatory.

During her conservatory years, she also made her international debut as Laura in Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta (2015, Festival Aix-en-Provence; 2016 Opéra National de Lyon) staged by Peter Sellars, conductor Teodor Currentzis (2015), Martyn Brabbins (2016).

In 2015 she studied in the Academie de l'Opéra de Monte-Carlo, focusing on French and Italian repertoire, working with Mº Laurent Campellone, Corrado Rovaris, Kira Parfeevets, Antoine Palloc, Samuele Palla and Ruggero Raimondi.

In 2016 she was chosen by maestro Michel Plasson to participate in Académie Internationale de La musique Française (France) deeply studying French repertoire and particularly title role of Bizet’s Carmen (with maestro Michel Plasson, Emmanuel Plasson, Sophie Koch, José Van Dam). In the same year she also won the Concurso Internacional de Mozart (Granada, Spain), and as a result in 2017 debuted in the role of Dorabella in Mozart's Così fan tutte in the Auditorio Manuel de Falla, conducted by Mº Andrea Marcon, Giancarlo Andretta and Xavier Capdet.

During the 2017-2018 season she was a member of Zurich Opernhaus International Opera Studio performing many roles on the main stage.

In 2018 she debuted in the title role in Bizet’s Carmen (São Paulo, Brazil) staged by Rodolfo García Vazques. The same year she made her debut as Isabella in Rossini’s Italiana in Algeri ( Auditorio Manuel de Falla, Granada, Spain).

In 2019 she sings the title role in Leo Muscato’s production of Carmen at the Opera di Firenze / Maggio Musicale Fiorentino with maestro Sesto Quatrini. The same year she also won the First prize in “1st Roma Caput Mundi International Competition”.

In 2020 she won the prestigious ASLICO International Competition, after which she will debut the role of Charlotte in Massenet’s Werther in Teatro Sociale di Como and many other theaters in Italy.

Karina has already worked conductors such as Marco Armiliato, Teodor Currentzis, Fabio Luisi, Andrea Marcon, Diego Fasolis, Gennady Rohzdestvensky, Simone Young, Sesto Quatrini.
