Tenor Andrés Veramendi will play the role of Paco in “La Vida Breve”, an opera in two acts by Manuel de Falla at Madrid’s Teatro de la Zarzuela. Beginning on September 22nd, Mr. Veramendi will make his debut at this theater. The work will be performed together with “El Amor Brujo”, by the same composer. The show has been produced by Brussels’ Theatre Royal La Monnaie/De Munt and Basel’s Theater Basel. The work premiered in 1998 under the title “¡Ay, amor¡”, chosen by its stage director Herbert Wernicke, who passed away in 2002. The stage direction in Madrid will be entrusted to Wendelin Lang. Herbert Wernicke’s set design is inspired by Julio Romero de Torres’ paintings. Juanjo Mena and Guillermo Garcia will be conducting the Coro del Teatro de la Zarzuela and the Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid.
