Barcelona's Gran Teatre del Liceu stages Tristan und Isolde, with the baritone Germán Olvera in the cast

Tristan und Isolde, one of the greatest stories of love and death ever told, with music and libretto by Richard Wagner, will be presented at the Liceu of Barcelona this November 28th. The run of performances lasts until December 15th. The cast selected for this production includes the baritone Germán Olvera, who will sing alongside other great artists such as Stefan Vinke, Albert Dohmen, Iréne Theorin and Greer Grimsley. According to the theatre's website, the stage director will be Àlex Ollé (La Fura dels Baus) who “concentrates on symbolic language and does an excellent job characterising the protagonists. The stage design of Alfons Flores and the video projections of Franc Aleu contribute to the realization of the Wagnerian ideal of the 'comprehensive work of art',  through the use of images which sustain and highlight the libretto and the score.” The musical direction of this Opéra de Lyon production is by the Catalan Josep Pons.
