Bass David Sánchez will sing in Pelléas et Mélisande, by Claude Debussy, at the Ópera de Oviedo

Pelléas et Mélisande, an opera in five acts with music by Claude Debussy and French libretto by the composer himself and Maurice Maeterlinck, after a play by Maeterlinck, tells the story of a love triangle between two brothers (Pelléas and Golaud) and the woman (Mélisande) to whom both feel attracted. It will be on the stage of the Teatro Campoamor of Oviedo, for the first time, from January 28th to February 3rd. Participating in this production by the Opéra Nice Côte d’Azur is the bass David Sánchez, along with renowned artists such as Edward Nelson, Christopher Purves and Maxim Kuzmin-Karavaev, among others. Musical direction is in the hands of Yves Abel, who will be leading the Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias and the Coro de la Ópera de Oviedo. Stage direction and costume design are by René Koering.
We will see the Alicante-born bass again soon in Andrea Chénier at the Gran Teatre del Liceu of Barcelona and in La tarbernera del puerto at the Teatro de la Zarzuela of Madrid.
