Carmen Romeu performs leading role in Las Golondrinas at the Teatro Campoamor of Oviedo

On February 17th and 19th we will have the opportunity to see Las Golondrinas on the stage of the Teatro Campoamor of Oviedo. This production by the Teatro de la Zarzuela received unanimous critical acclaim while it was being staged in Madrid. The three-act lyrical drama, composed by José María Usandizaga to a libretto by Gregorio Martínez Sierra and María de Lejárraga, tells a tale of jealousy in a travelling circus, with a clown as its central character. The stage director is Giancarlo del Monaco and Carmen Romeu sings, just as she did - to great success - at the Teatro de la Zarzuela, the leading role of Lina, who secretly loves the leader of the troupe, Puck.
Recent performances by the soprano from Valencia include Idomeneo at the Palau de les Arts, Clementina at the Teatro de la Zarzuela and the Auditorio Manuel de Falla, with the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, Las Golondrinas at the Teatro de la Zarzuela, Rossini's Otello and also La Bohème at the Teatro di San Carlo of Naples. We will have the chance to hear her soon in Così fan tutte (Fiordiligi) at the Teatre Principal de Palma, in Mallorca, and in Il Pianto di Maria with the Capella de Ministrers at the Palau de la Música, in Valencia.
