Concert dedicated to Rossini at Madrid’s Teatro de la Zarzuela, featuring soprano Carmen Romeo


Madrid’s Teatro de la Zarzuela presents a concert dedicated to Gioachino Rossini on May 10th. The formidable cast features soprano Carmen Romeu, who has recently performed various Rossini pieces to high acclaim. Her most noteworthy performances include Elena in “La Donna del Lago” in Pesaro and Desdémona in “Otello” in Antwerp and Ghent. She will soon return to Pesaro’s Rossini Opera Festival in the leading role of a new production of “Armida” and as Rosina in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” in Oviedo. The concert program features the singer in the cantata “La Morte de Didone” and “Stabat Mater.” The Coro del Teatro de la Zarzuela and the Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid will be conducted by the illustrious maestro Alberto Zedda, a renowned Rossini expert.
