Damián del Castillo and David Sánchez to take part in Der König Kandaules at Teatro de la Maestranza, conducted by Maestro Pedro Halffter


The baritone Damián del Castillo will be Nicomedes and the bass David Sánchez will be Pharnaces in Der König Kandaules, by Alexander von Zemlinsky, which is to be staged at Seville's Teatro de la Maestranza from June 20th to 24th. Pedro Halffter, the musical director of this production by the Teatro Massimo de Palermo, will stand before the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla and a great cast of singers, including Peter Svensson, Martin Gantner and Christopher Robertson, among others. Stage direction is in the hands of Manfre Schweigkofler.
Damián del Castillo's most recent performances include his presence in Death in Venice, Romeo et Juliette and La Traviata at the Teatro Real of Madrid, in Verdi's Otello at the Festival de Peralada and the Teatro de la Maestranza, in Don Carlo at Los Teatros del Canal and in Otello and Simón Boccanegra at the Liceu. Soon we will also have the chance to see the baritone from Jaén in Winterreise at the Teatro Auditorio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial, in a concert version of Thaïs at the Gran Teatre del Liceu and in Bomarzo at the Teatro Real.
David Sánchez has performed recently in Die Zauberflöte and Parsifal at the Teatro Real of Madrid and also in Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatre Principal de Palma. We will have the opportunity to see him again soon in Macbeth, at the Gran Teatre del Liceu.
