Dmitry Ulyanov performs Escamillo in “Carmen” at Tokyo’s New National Theater


Five shows of Bizet’s opera “Carmen” are being presented from January 19th to February 1st at Tokyo’s New National Theater – the stage with the best, most modern facilities in the Japanese capital. Bass Dmitry Ulyanov plays the role of Escamillo, the bullfighter. The singer adds a new role to his extensive, diverse repertoire, once again proving his versatility. Stage directed by Uyama Hitoshi, this production was originally presented in June of 2010. The young, promising Latvian maestro Ainars Rubikis makes his debut on this Japanese stage.
