Dmitry Ulyanov will be Ivan Khovansky in Khovanshchina, at the Stanislavsky Opera of Moscow


Khovanshchina, by Mussorgsky, will be staged at the Stanislavsky Opera of Moscow, on November 29th and 30th, with the Russian bass Dmitry Ulyanov in the role of Prince Ivan Khovansky. This popular musical drama in five acts, with music and libretto by Mussorgsky, although unfinished at the time of the composer's death and concluded later by Rimski-Korsakov and revised again in 1959 by Dimitri Shostakovich, will be conducted by Alexander Lazarev. Stage direction will be by Alexander Titel.
Subsequently Ulyanov will embody Boris Timofeyevich Izmailov in Katerina Izmaylova, by Shostakovich, which will be staged on December 1st, 2nd and 3rd at the Bolshoi Theatre of Moscow. This production will be conducted by Tugan Solhiev and stage direction will be by Rimas Tumanas.
We will also see the Russian singer soon in Aida, at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein.
