Fundación Juan March offers Il finto sordo, by Manuel García, with Damián del Castillo and César San Martín in the cast

From May 6th to May 13th we will have the chance to see, at the Fundación Juan March, the salon opera buffa by Manuel García, Il finto sordo. This new production by the Madrid-based foundation and the Teatro de la Zarzuela, in coproduction with the ABAO Ópera Bilbao, will feature the voices of the baritones Damián del Castillo, as Francuccio, and César San Martín, as Pagnacca. Paco Azorín is in charge of stage direction and musical direction will be by pianist Rubén Fernández Aguirre. This production is the modern revival of the opera and represents another step on the path that began with the recent production of Le cinesi, presented on this same stage. Originally conceived for six voices and piano, Il finto sordo has not been performed since it premiered in Paris in about 1831.

The production will also be staged in Bilbao, on May 22nd and 23rd. The baritones Damián del Castillo and César San Martín will be singing at those performances as well.
