Gregory Kunde and Marianne Cornetti triumph in A Coruña with the recital “De Verdi a Broadway”

Last August 28th, the tenor Gregory Kunde and the mezzo Marianne Cornetti gave a concert organised by the association Friends of the Opera of A Coruña, opening the city's current opera season. They performed opera arias and duets and also some Broadway songs and were accompanied by the Valencia-born pianist José Ramón Martín. The work of both singers has been praised by the audience as well as by opera critics.
For example, the electronic journal OperaWorld gave them the following accolades: “Evidently, little more can be said about Gregory Kunde. He displayed his lovely timbre, his dazzling ascent to well-placed and well-projected high notes, his technique and his power of vocal interpretation (…). Fantastic Marianne Cornetti. The American mezzosoprano is a vocal prodigy. An authentic mezzo timbre, natural and well-rounded low notes, a broad voice, rich in nuance and harmonics, magnificent and ringing high notes and a completely homogenous voice in all registers, are the characteristics for which this singer is known.” Daniel Diz
And La Opinión de A Coruña expressed itself in the following terms: “A full Palacio de la Ópera. Repeated applause and exclamations of enthusiasm. As many as six encores. Signs of approval that seemed to never end. There could have been no better start to the opera programming." Julio Andrade Malde
