Gregory Kunde and Marifé Nogales participate in Manon Lescaut, staged by ABAO and conducted by Maestro Pedro Halffter

The American tenor Gregory Kunde will be Renato des Grieux in Puccini’s Manon Lescaut, which is to be staged by the Bilbao Association of Friends of the Opera from February 20th to 29th. Pedro Halffter, the musical director of this production by the Teatro Regio di Parma, will be conducting the Orquesta Sinfónica de Euskadi, the Coro de la Ópera de Bilbao and a fabulous cast of singers including the outstanding Ainhoa Arteta, who will sing the role of Manon Lescaut. The Guipuscoan singer Marifé Nogales also participates in this production. British director Stephen Medcalf is in charge of stage direction.
Gregory Kunde’s upcoming engagements include Idomeneo at Les Arts de Valencia, Les Troyens at the Hamburg Opera, Otello at the Cincinnati Opera, with James Conlon, and Il Trovatore at the Royal Opera House of London, with Maestro Noseda.
We will have the opportunity to see Marifé Nogales again during the current ABAO season, in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, singing the role of Rosina.
