Gregory Kunde performs Giacomo Meyerbeer’s “L’Africaine” at Venice’s Teatro La Fenice

To inaugurate the new season, on November 23rd, Venice’s Teatro La Fenice has scheduled a new production of Giacomo Meyerbeer’s “L’Africaine”, with Gregory Kunde in the role of Vasco de Gama. The Fondazione Teatro La Fenice is presenting this new production, with stage direction by Leo Moscato, for the 150th anniversary of the composer’s death. Written in the style of the French “Grand Opera,” in five acts, this opera features a high degree of vocal difficulty and is rarely performed. The tenor will sing in four performances on November 23rd, 26th, 29th and December 1st. Emmanuel Villaume will be conducting the Orchestra e Coro del Teatro La Fenice.
