Gregory Kunde sings Verdi’s Requiem as part of the ABAO-OLBE opera season

The ABAO-OLBE will offer a single performance of Messa da Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi on April 16th. The conductor will be Francesco Ivan Ciampa, who will be leading the Orquesta Sinfónica Verum and the Coro de la Ópera de Bilbao. Performing with the tenor Gregory Kunde will be the soprano Angela Meade, the bass Ildebrando D’Arcangelo and the mezzo Dolora Zajick. This Messa da Requiem is part of the ABAO’s Tutto Verdi project. The purpose of this project is to deepen the close relationship that this institution has with Verdi, by performing all of the operas by the Italian composer, in all of their versions, and by offering parallel activities that will lead to a better understanding of the author of this Requiem.
The American singer’s future engagements also include Otello (May Festival-Cincinnati) with James Conlon, Il Trovatore (Royal Opera House) with Maestro Noseda and Otello and Norma in the upcoming season at Madrid’s Teatro Real.
