Gregory Kunde will sing Chevalier des Grieux in the Manon Lescaut staged by the Dallas Opera

Manon Lescaut, one of Puccini's first operas, will be staged in Dallas from March 1st through 9th, with Gregory Kunde in the role of Chevalier des Grieux. The American tenor has interpreted this role on several occasions, most recently in Japan while on tour with the Ópera di Roma, where his performances were very warmly received. He will take the stage of the Dallas Opera in the company of Kristin Lewis (Manon Lescaut), Musa Ngqungwana (Lescaut), Andrea Silvestrelli (Geronte De Revoir) and Jonas Hacker (Edmondo), all under the musical direction of Maestro Emmanuel Villaume. The stage direction of this production is by Edward Berkeley.

Regarded as one of the most accomplished singers on the international opera stage today, the American tenor Gregory Kunde appears regularly at the most prestigious opera houses around the world, working with conductors and orchestras of the highest calibre. Kunde’s achievements have been recognised with a number of awards, most recently ‘Male Singer of the Year’ at the 2016 International Opera Awards.

Gregory Kunde has performed recently in Le prophète at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, as well as in Norma at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie, Peter Grimes at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, Valencia, Aida at the Teatro Real of Madrid, La forza del destino at the Semperoper Dresden, Norma at the ABAO-Bilbao, Manon Lescaut at the Gran Teatro del Liceu of Barcelona, in a concert of Verdi and Rossini works at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées with the soprano María José Siri, Turandot and Aida at Arena di Verona Opera Festival, a concert with Elina Garanca and Anna Pirozzi at Klassik in den Alpen, Il Barbiere di Siviglia as musical director at La Fenice, in Venice, Turandot at the Teatro Real of Madrid, Andrea Chénier at the Wiener Staatsoper, Otello at the Baluarte of Pamplona and Das lied von der Erde at the Palau de la Música of Valencia.

Some of his upcoming engagements include Turandot at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Aida at the Wiener Staatsoper, Otello at the Opéra Monte-Carlo, a recital at Palma de Mallorca and Verdi's Requiem with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Zubin Mehta.
