José Bros to sing title role in Don Carlo at the Ópera de Tenerife

Don Carlo, an opera in five acts with music by Giuseppe Verdi and a French libretto by François Joseph Méry and Camille du Locle, based on Schiller's play Dom Karlos, Infant von Spanien, will be on the stage of the Auditorio de Tenerife on March 10th, 14th and 17th.  Jealousy, betrayal, father/son conflicts and a love triangle come together in this story involving King Philip II (Filippo) and his son Carlos (Don Carlo), who is in love with his father's wife, Elizabeth of Valois (Elisabetta). The Catalonian tenor José Bros has been entrusted with performing the title role, Don Carlo. He will be accompanied by other singers of the stature of Riccardo Zanellato (Philip II), Simone Alberghini (Rodrigo, Marquis of Posa), Yolanda Auyanet (Elizabeth of Valois) and Mariano Buccino (the Grand Inquisitor), among others. Conducting the Sinfónica de Tenerife and the Coro Ópera de Tenerife will be Maestro Jader Bignamini. The stage direction of this Teatro Regio di Parma production is in the hands of Cesare Lievi.
Soon José Bros will be singing in Attila, at the Gran Teatre del Liceu of Barcelona, and in Elias, with the Orquesta y Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid.
