Lianna Haroutounian to sing the title role of Madama Butterfly at the Seattle Opera


The Seattle Opera is staging Madama Butterfly with Lianna Haroutounian in the role of Cio-Cio-San. Puccini's famous tragedia giapponese in three acts, with libretto by Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica, after the play Madame Butterfly by David Belasco, will be on the stage of the Seattle Opera from August 5th through August 19th. Accompanying the Armenian soprano on stage will be Alexey Dolgov in the role of Pinkerton, Weston Hurt as Sharpless, Renée Rapier as Suzuki and Sarah Mattox as Kate Pinkerton. They will be musically directed from the pit by Carlo Montanaro. Stage direction will be in the hands of the Australian Kate Cherry. Next season Lianna Haroutounian will sing Aida at the Teatro Real of Madrid.
