Madrid’s Teatro Real stages Aida, with Gregory Kunde as Radames and Lianna Haroutounian in the title role

With celebrations in full swing at the Teatro Real, for both its bicentennial and the 20th anniversary of its reopening, the theatre will revive one of the most monumental and emblematic productions of its recent past: Aida, by Giuseppe Verdi, which premiered in 1998 with stage direction, set design and costuming by Hugo de Ana. This time the stage director will offer viewers a new and updated version of one of the most popular operas by the composer from Busseto. Nicola Luisotti will be at the helm of the Coro y Orquesta Titulares del Teatro Real and of a triple cast featuring the best voices of today. The cast includes Gregory Kunde as Radames and Lianna Haroutounian as Aida, and also Violeta Urmana, Ekaterina Semenchuk, Daniela Barcellona, Fabio Sartori, Alfred Kim, Liudmyla Monastyrska, Ana Pirozzi, among others. Aida will be on stage from March 7th to 25th.
In the near future we will be able to see Gregory Kunde in Norma, with the ABAO-Bilbao, and also in Manon Lescaut, at the Gran Teatre del Liceu of Barcelona. Lianna Haroutounian will soon be performing in Tosca, at the Palau de les Arts de Valencia and in Pagliacci, with the San Francisco Opera.
