Marifé Nogales will be a member of the cast in Massenet’s “Thais” at Seville’s Teatro de la Maestranza

On October 25th, 28th, and 31st, Seville’s Teatro de la Maestranza will house Jules Massenet’s “Thais” in homage to the famous French composer in the centenary of his death. The prestigious cast will include mezzo-soprano Marifé Nogales playing the roles of Myrtale and Albine. The show has been co-produced by Gothenburg’s Opera and the Finnish National Opera, featuring stage direction by German Nicola Raab. This production premiered in Gothenburg in February 2010, and the story is set in the 19th century, the time when Massenet wrote that work. One of the highlights will be Plácido Domingo in the role of Athanaël. Pedro Halffter will be conducting the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla and the Coro de la Asociación de Amigos del Teatro de la Maestranza. All tickets have been sold out for all three performances.
