Ruth Iniesta and Francisco Corujo will sing a concert version of Les pêcheurs de perles, with the Real Filharmonía de Galicia

The Real Filharmonia de Galicia will be giving concert performances of Les pêcheurs de perles (The Pearl Fishers) at the Auditorio de Galicia on November 9th and at the Teatro Afundación Vigo on November 11th. This opera in three acts by Georges Bizet, with libretto by Michel Carré and Eugène Cormon, was the first important opera by the composer to be taken to the stage. The work exemplified the new aesthetic of drame lyrique and, with its action set in Ceylon, joined in the wave of exoticism fashionable at the time. The soprano Ruth Iniesta will sing the role of Leila while tenor Francisco Corujo will sing the role of Nadir. They will be conducted by  Paul Daniel, who is the principal conductor and artistic director of the Real Filharmonia.

We will have the chance to see Ruth Iniesta again soon in Werther at the Teatro Comunale di Bolonia, with Juan Diego Flórez and Michele Mariotti, and at the Teatro de la Zarzuela, in the double bill Chateau Margaux/La viejecita, with stage direction by Lluís Pasqual and scenography by Paco Azorín. She will also be performing in Le Coq D’or at the Teatro Real of Madrid.

Francisco Corujo will be performing soon at the Teatro Nacional Eduardo Brito of Santo Domingo, singing Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and also at the Auditorio de Tenerife, where he will sing in Doña Francisquita.
