From June 16th to 25th the Teatro Comunale di Bologna will be staging Lucia di Lammermoor, a tragic opera in three acts with music by Donizetti and libretto by Salvatore Cammarano, based on Sir Walter Scott's novel The Bride of Lammermoor. The soprano Ruth Iniesta will give life to Lucia, a young woman who is trapped in the feud between her own family and that of Edgardo Ravenswood, the man she loves, and ends up going insane. Lorenzo Mariani will be the stage director of this coproduction by the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, the ABAO of Bilbao, the Slovak National Theatre and the Teatro Carlo Felice of Genoa. Leading the orchestra and chorus of the TCBO will be Maestro Michele Mariotti. The Zaragoza-born soprano will be accompanied on stage by a cast of outstanding performers, including Simone Alberghini in the role of Lord Enrico Ashton, Stefan Pop in the role of Edgardo and Alessandro Luciano as Lord Arturo Bucklaw.
A few days later, on July 1st, Ruth Iniesta will sing Beethoven's Ninth Symphony at the Auditorio San Lorenzo, in El Escorial, with the Orquesta Sinfonica Verum and the Coro de la Universidad Politécnica of Madrid. The concert will be conducted by Maestro José Ramón Encinar.
