Ruth Iniesta to sing Trilogía de Tonadillas by Blas de Laserna at the Prague Spring Festival

The 72nd edition of the Prague Spring Festival has programmed Trilogía de Tonadillas, by Blas de Laserna, for May 30th. The 'tonadillas' - short pieces of musical theatre that date from late 18th century and have a very Spanish ambience - will be performed by the soprano Ruth Iniesta. Ms Iniesta will be accompanied by the male voices of the tenor Juan Manuel Padrón and the baritone Sebastià Peris. Aaron Zapico, leading his group Forma Antiqva and also playing the harpsichord, will be the musical director of these staged tonadillas by Blas de Laserna, a key figure in the history of Spanish music.
Recent performances by the soprano from Zaragoza include Les pêcheurs de perles in Santiago de Compostela and Vigo, Werther at the Teatro Comunale de Bologna, Don Giovanni at the Auditori de Manacor, Tonadillas in Cáceres and Badajoz with the Orquesta de Extremadura, Die Zauberflöte at the Teatro de la Maestranza of Seville and Château Margaux/La Viejecita at the Teatro de la Zarzuela. We will see her again soon in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony at the Escorial, in Medea at the Wexford Festival Opera and in Il viaggio a Reims at Barcelona's Gran Teatre del Liceu.
