Soprano Lianna Haroutounian sings title role in Tosca at the Palau de les Arts de Valencia

Tosca, an opera composed by Giacomo Puccini to a libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, based on a play by Vicent Sardou, is to be staged at Les Arts de Valencia from May 6th through 21st. Lianna Haroutounian will give life to the main character of this very intense drama about love used as a bargaining chip, set in papal Rome. In the eternal city, under siege by Napoleon's troops, religious repression conceals a thick plot of base passions and extortion that will culminate in one of the most beautiful deaths in the history of opera. Sharing the stage with the Armenian soprano is Alfred Kim as Cavarodossi, Claudio Sgura and Gevorg Hakobyan who will share the role of Scarpia, and Alfonso Antoniozzi in the role of Il Sagrestano, among others. Conducting will be by Nicola Luisotti, leading the Orquesta de la Comunitat Valenciana. The stage direction, set design and lighting of this production by the Teatro Carlo Felice of Genoa is by Davide Livermore.
Soon we will see Lianna Haroutounian in Pagliacci at the San Francisco Opera and in Madama Butterfly at the Gran Teatre del Liceu of Barcelona.
