Soprano Mariola Cantarero sings the lead role in El Gato Montés to be performed at the Auditorio de Tenerife


For June 29th the Auditorio de Tenerife has programmed El Gato Montés, by Manuel Penella Moreno. This zarzuela tells the story of the rivalry between the bullfighter Rafael Ruíz and the bandolero Juanillo, also known as "El Gato Montés” [The Wild Cat], who are vying for the love of a gypsy woman named Soleá. The female character will be sung by soprano Mariola Cantarero. The musical direction of this Auditorio de Tenerife production is in the hands of Salvador Vázquez, who will lead the orchestra and chorus of the Ópera de Tenerife. Stage direction is by Raúl Vázquez.

Recently Mariola Cantarero has sung in The Tempest at Madrid's Teatro de la Zarzuela, in the world premiere of Fuenteovejuna at the Teatro Campoamor of Oviedo, and in La Bohème in a production by Ópera Garaje, performed in Bilbao, Barcelona and Madrid.
