Soprano Saioa Hernández sings the leading role in Attila in the season-opening performance at the Scala in Milan

Saioa Hernández will open the season of Milan's legendary Teatro alla Scala with a leading role, that of Odabella, in Attila, by Verdi. This is the first Spanish a soprano sings the lead at an opening night performance at the Scala, which this year will be on December 7th.

The Scala is staging the celebrated Verdi opera with musical direction by Riccardo Chailly and stage direction by Davide Livermore. On stage with Saioa Hernández will be Ildar Abdrazakov (Attila), George Petean (Ezio), Fabio Sartori (Foresto), Francesco Pittari (Uldino) and Gianluca Buratto (Leone). Attila will be on stage until January 8th.

Audiences will have the opportunity to hear Saioa Hernández again in Andrea Chenier in Modena, Piacenza, Reggio Emilia and Ravenna and also in Nabucco at the Dresden Semperoper, where she will perform with Plácido Domingo.
