Staatsoper Berlin stages Don Carlo, with Lianna Haroutounian in the role of Elizabeth of Valois

The singer Lianna Haroutounian will give life to Elizabeth of Valois, the French princess who, although initially betrothed to Don Carlos, became the wife of his father Philip II of Spain. This opera in five acts with music by Giuseppe Verdi and French libretto by François Joseph Méry and Camille du Locle, based on Schiller's play Dom Karlos, Infant von Spanien, will be on the stage of Staatsoper Berlin from May 14th to May 28th. Massimo Zanetti will be conducting the Staatskapelle Berlin and the Staatsopernchor and Philipp Himmelmann will be in charge of the stage direction of this new production by the Berlin opera house.
Recent performances by the Armenian soprano include Madama Butterfly at the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam and at the San Francisco Opera, Adriana Lecouvreur at La Monnaie of Brussels, Simon Boccanegra at the Metropolitan Opera, Il Trovatore at the Royal Opera House and La Bohème at the Sydney Opera House. In upcoming engagements we will have the opportunity to see her in Madama Butterfly at the Staatsoper Hamburg and at the Seattle Opera and also in Aida in the next Teatro Real of Madrid season.
