Staatsoper Hamburg stages Madama Butterfly with Lianna Haroutounian as Cio-Cio-San

Lianna Haroutounian will sing the title role of Madama Butterfly at the Staatsoper Hamburg. This extremely popular and very moving opera by Puccini will be on the stage of the Hamburg theatre from June 10th through June 28th. The Armenian soprano embodied this unhappy character a few months ago at the San Francisco Opera, where her performances were very successful and praised by critics and audiences alike. In Hamburg she will be singing under the conductor Johannes Fritzsch and she will be accompanied by an excellent cast, including Cristina Damian (Suzuki), Narea Son (Kate Pinkerton), Marcelo Puente (Pinkerton) and Alexey Bogdanchikov (Sharpless). Stage direction is in the hands of Vincent Boussard.
Recent performances by the Armenian soprano include Madama Butterfly at the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam and at the San Francisco Opera, Adriana Lecouvreur at La Monnaie of Brussels, Simon Boccanegra at the Metropolitan Opera, Il Trovatore at the Royal Opera House, La Bohème at the Sydney Opera House and Don Carlo at the Staatsoper Berlin. In future engagements we will have the opportunity to see her in Madama Butterfly at the Seattle Opera, in Aida next season at the Teatro Real of Madrid and in Tosca at the Palau de Les Arts of Valencia.
