Teatro de la Maestranza stages Falstaff under the baton of Maestro Pedro Halffter

Falstaff, a lyrical comedy in three acts with music by Giuseppe Verdi and Italian libretto by Arrigo Boito, based on The Merry Wives of Windsor and scenes from Henry IV, both by William Shakespeare, will be on the stage of the Teatro de la Maestranza of Seville from February 16th through 24th. Pedro Halffter will be in charge of the musical direction; he will be conducting the Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla and the Coro de la Asociación de Amigos del Teatro de la Maestranza. The stage director of this production by the Showa University of Music-Teatro del Giglio Showa (Japan) will be the Italian director Marco Gandini.
Pedro Halffter's upcoming engagements include Adriana Lecouvreur, also at the Teatro de la Maestranza, and La Traviata, at the Fondazione Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi of Trieste.
