Teatro de la Zarzuela will stage El caserío, with baritone Àngel Òdena and mezzo Marifé Nogales in the cast

Between October 3rd and 20th the Teatro de la Zarzuela of Madrid will stage Jesús Guridi's lyrical comedy in three acts, El caserío. This zarzuela, an example of Spanish costumbrismo, depicts traditional life in a Basque peasant village in the early 1900s and has baritone Àngel Òdena in the role of Tío Santi and mezzo Marifé Nogales in the role of Inosensia. Leading the Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid will be the conductor Juanjo Mena. Stage direction is by Pablo Viar while set design is by Daniel Bianco.

Soon we will have more opportunities to see Àngel Òdena, in the double-bill programme Pagliacci/Cavalleria Rusticana at the Gran Teatre del Liceu and also in La tabernera del puerto at the Teatro Calderón of Valladolid. Marifé Nogales will soon be performing again at the Teatro de la Zarzuela, in Maretxu, and she also will be singing in La valquiria at the Teatro Real.
