Teatro Principal de Maó stages Ernani, with José Bros in the title role and Albert Casals as Don Riccardo

The 48th season of the Menorca Opera Foundation and the Association of Friends of the Opera of Maó has programmed Verdi´s Ernani for May 31st and June 2nd. This opera in four acts is based on the play by Victor Hugo. Ernani is a sample of Verdi's early work, and as such it is full of easy melodies that are passionate and heroic. It was the first of the great tenor roles composed by Verdi and on this occasion it will be sung by José Bros. On stage with him will be Albert Casals (Don Riccardo), Simone Piazzola (Don Carlo), Anna Pirozzi (Elvira) and Simon Orfila (Silva), among others. The stage direction of this production by the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège was conceived by Giorgia Guerra. The conductor will be Maestro Matteo Beltrami.

In an upcoming engagement José Bros will sing in Un ballo in maschera at the Teatro Campoamor of Oviedo.

Tenor Albert Casals will soon perform in Luisa Miller at the Gran Teatre del Liceu of Barcelona.
