The 26th Festival of Spanish Lyrical Theatre programmes Maruxa with Carmen Romeu in the title role


Maruxa, a lyrical eclogue in two acts with music by Amadeo Vives and libretto by Luis Pascual Frutos, revised by Miquel Ortega, can be seen in Oviedo on February 21st and 23rd.  This production, which comes from the Teatro de la Zarzuela and has been selected for performance at the Festival of Spanish Lyrical Theatre, will have the voice of the soprano Carmen Romeu in the leading role. Maestro José Miguel Pérez-Sierra will be on the podium, leading the Oviedo Filarmonía and the Capilla Polifónica Ciudad de Oviedo. Stage direction and set designer of this production is Paco Azorín.

Shortly thereafter, on March 8th, the soprano from Valencia will sing, with the ensemble Forma Antiqva, in the concert “Proyecto Bárbara”,  programmed by the 29th Festival  of Sacred Art. It will take place in the Real Basílica Pontificia de San Miguel, in Madrid. The concert will be performed again the next day, on March 9th, at the Teatro Real Coliseo de Carlos III, in El Escorial.
