The mezzo Marianne Cornetti to sing Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Akron Symphony


On January 21st the Akron Symphony will be giving a concert entirely dedicated to Beethoven. In the first part of the concert we will hear Piano Concerto No. 3 by the German composer and in the second part his Symphony No. 9 will be performed, with the participation of the mezzo Marianne Cornetti. The concert is to take place in the E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall of Akron (Ohio), at 8 p.m., with Benjamin Zander conducting.
Marianne Cornetti frequently takes part in concert performances of works such as Verdi's Réquiem, Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, Rossini's Stabat Mater, Elgar's Sea Pictures and El Amor Brujo by Manuel de Falla. Upcoming performances include Falstaff in San Diego, Le Prophète at the Aalto-Musiktheater Essen and Il Trovatore at the Gran Teatre del Liceu of Barcelona.
