The mezzo Marianne Cornetti will be Azucena in Il Trovatore, programmed by the Israeli Opera of Tel Aviv


This season the Israeli Opera of Tel Aviv will be performing Il Trovatore, by Giuseppe Verdi. The opera will be staged from December 31st through January 16th. Also participating in this production are the Israel Symphony Orchestra and the Israeli Opera Chorus, under the musical direction of Daniel Oren. Stage direction is in the hands of Michal Znaniecki. Marianne Cornetti will be accompanied on stage by Gustavo Porta (Manrico), Svetla Vassileva (Leonora) and George Petean (Di Luna).

The American mezzo’s recent performances include Il Trovatore, as part of the current A Coruña opera season, and Lohengrin at the Theatro Municipal de São Paulo. In an upcoming engagement she will sing the role of Jezibaba the witch in Rusalka, with the Minnesota Opera.
